Gore Campaign Chairman Resigns

The top man on Vice President Al Gore’s presidential campaign is stepping down. Tony Coelho, citing medical concerns, announced today that he is resigning as the Gore 2000 campaign chairman. Coelho, who turns 58 today, was hospitalized in Virginia Monday for an inflamed colon and is expected to be released this weekend. Coelho also suffers from epilepsy. Democratic sources tell ABCNEWS that Commerce Secretary Bill Daley will soon resign his post to replace Coelho.
